Frequently asked questions
How Long Is the Summer Tennis Camp?
Our junior summer camp runs for up to 9 weeks with full-day and half-day scheduling plus extended care. Players are grouped by age and ability — beginners at 6:1 and advanced at 4:1 — for the right challenge. Families from Cummer and Newtonbrook find the drive to our courts quick.
What Group Lessons Suit Adults?
Our 8-week adult group lessons feature a 4:1 ratio with certified instruction on revitalized courts. They are an excellent fit for residents commuting along Yonge Street or taking Line 1 from Finch Station. View session details on our adult group tennis lessons page.
What Experience Do Your Coaches Have?
Director Peter Nielsen is a National Senior Champion and Tennis Canada National Coach with over 40 years and 17,000-plus students coached. Head Pro Roshun Razik played Davis Cup for Sri Lanka and competed at the NCAA level. Ahmed Ahmed and Avery Nielsen add OTA credentials and years of teaching experience.
Is There a Spring Programme for Kids?
The Junior Spring Program covers 8 weeks of coaching with sessions 2 to 3 days per week before summer begins. Coaches emphasise grip technique, rally skills, and court awareness in groups matched to each level. See our junior spring programme page for dates and enrolment info.
How Do I Get There From Newtonbrook?
Head south on Yonge Street or Bayview Avenue toward Sheppard, then follow Bayview north to Cresthaven Dr. From Finch Station on Line 1, connect to Line 4 at Sheppard-Yonge and ride to Bayview Station directly. Families from Lansing follow the same route along the Sheppard corridor.
Does the Camp Continue in the Fall?
Yes, the Fall Junior Program runs 6 weeks with 2 to 3 sessions per week on our revitalized courts. It builds on summer progress and keeps players developing their skills through autumn in North York. Full details are on our fall junior programme page.
Are One-on-One Sessions Available?
Private lessons are offered seven days a week for juniors and adults who want individualised attention. Semi-private sessions for pairs are also an option for Newtonbrook siblings or friends training together. Book through our private tennis lessons page.
What Are the Group Ratios?
We keep groups intentionally small — 6:1 for beginner players and 4:1 for advanced juniors and adults. This ensures every participant receives personal feedback and adequate court time each session. Families from Willowdale and Newtonbrook appreciate the individual attention.
What Green Spaces Are Near the Courts?
Cummer Park, Newtonbrook Park, and the East Don Parklands are all close to our North York facility. Families often enjoy the parks along Finch Avenue and Bayview Avenue before or after a tennis session. The green spaces in the M2M and M2N areas make the trip to our courts an enjoyable outing.
